EMT Course

Our Emergency Medical Technician course is designed to teach the knowledge and skills pertinent to providing emergency care in the field as an EMT.


WAAS will be offering a blended (online + in-person) class for those wishing to pursue their Emergency Medical Technician certification.

EXPECTATIONS

  • You will attend ALL skills lab sessions
  • You will login to MyBRADY a minimum of 3x/week
  • You will submit all required assignments prior to participating in that week’s skills lab.
  • You will take responsibility for your own learning. Online learning is not a fit for all learners. You must be a self-starter to complete this course. There is a lot of information to cover in a short amount of time. In-person sessions are for skills, but you are responsible for learning the material beforehand.

TOTAL COST $1500

  • Included in the cost is: background check, Fisdap testing software, textbook and online testing software, and 2 uniform shirts
  • Costs not included in the class fee: EMS pants and boots which are needed for all in-person activities. National Registry Cognitive Exam fees, a computer-based test administered at a certified Pearson Vue testing center. This step is NOT a part of this EMT course and is up to the student to complete after successful completion of the course.
  • A NON-REFUNDABLE $500 deposit is required immediately to reserve your seat in the class.
    • Make a payment on WinonaAmbulance.com > Patient Resources > Make a Payment and put “EMT COURSE” in as the run number.
    • Any remaining balance must be received by August 15th before 4pm.
  • Class materials will be available for pickup once all fees are paid.

WHEN / WHERE

  • Class will start on August 27th, 2024 and run through December 3rd, 2024.
    • The first assignments are due on August 26th with the first in-person meeting on August 27th.
  • Final testing will take place on December 3rd, 2024.
  • Learning will primarily take place on Google Classroom with MANDATORY in-person skills lab sessions on Tuesdays from 5 – 9:30pm.
  • Patient contacts are an essential part to the course. Students will register for ride-along slots that occur outside of class time.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider CPR card (which must remain valid for the duration of class). This course may be taken through WAAS, with your course instructor, for an additional fee of $75.
  • Reliable access to the internet and a laptop computer. A mobile device will not grant you complete access to our online classroom.
  • Must be 18 years old by December 3rd, 2024.
